The Panda (also known as Farmer) update which Google started using around March/ April time 2011 has been the cause of much discussion of late. Many business owners will know about Panda because of the damage it has done to their website rankings; others may be loving Panda because their sites now rank higher. As you might expect, we come across clients in both camps. We’d love to know how it’s affected you.
Panda, named after a Google algorithm engineer, has certainly made its mark but it’s also taught us a lot about the way Google is changing the web (for good). In the nineties web developers and designers built web sites for their customers and their visitors; they made them as pretty as the tools of the day allowed, put some good content in for the visitor to read and that was it. Search engines like Alta Vista, Lycos, (remember them?) MSN (now Bing), Yahoo! and Google would come round and these websites would soon be at the top of the page for most releva

As a technology company we love to look forward to all the new exciting things happening in 2012 but as a business it’s important to reflect on the year that has passed. 2011 has been a great year for Wysi in many respects and we thank our clients for their support and custom. It’s been a year of growth and maturity which has allowed us to plan very positively for 2012. 2011 hasn’t been without its problems and new challenges but we’re very pleased to see we’ve risen to the challenges and are stronger as a result.
It’s very easy to ignore the good bits so I’d like to mention a few wins of 2011. We won Newbury Showground (NDAS) as a client back in April and they have recorded great results since having the new site. At the same time we also won a project with Chatham House (ECRAN) and worked closely with one of our partners to deliver that within 2 weeks! We aim to launch our full portfolio early next year to show all our other work

When browsing the internet day in day out, we always come across websites that really need to be introduced to 2011. So we came up with an idea: we are conducting free Wysi website M.O.T’s to show you any problems that may exist with your website and how they can be fixed.

2. It’s very difficult to find you when searching through search engines (/_bpost_2537/SEO_is_either_a_complete_waste_of_money,_too_costly,_or_free)... unfortunately your website was not found when looking on google for your products/services. A potential sale missed out on, actually not just 1 po

Aha! Why wysi? A good question and one we are often asked by customers. "What made you choose that name?" etc. etc.
Well, it's quite simple really; we wanted a very short (3 or 4 letter domain name), something that was a bit quirky, perhaps funky even, definitely memorable but we also wanted to convey our key business ethic - transparency - in the name. Brain-storming in the summer sun one balmy August day, we started playing around with wysiwyg. WYSIWYG - an acronym for 'What You See Is What You Get'. This suited our ethos perfectly but the word was too long, the domain names probably already taken, and we didn't really want to be seen as a wig company! So, some bright spark then said "WYSI" and the others went "Yeah! Just wysi!" and so it stuck.
Occasionally, we get pronounced 'wisey' or even 'wi-si' but we really don't mind at all. We pronounce it as 'wizzy', but you can call us what you like (within reason please).
Christmas can drag on, can't it? It's sad really,
